about me

Brad Johnson hi, i'm brad.
"You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."

I'm a web designer and developer living in the Northern Virginia area. I've been doing web design as a hobby since I was about twelve years old and I'm about half way through the Art Institute of Washington's bachelor's degree program for web and interactive media design.

Bradford's Blends Bradford's Blends Process Book IMD440 & IMD300

The main objective for this site was to build a lasting and endearing brand. The process included creating a logo, choosing a color palette, and building a website. This is also the first site that I built in HTML5 and the first to use media queries to ensure that it is properly sized for whatever device it might be viewed upon.

TechHead Magazine Tech Head Magazine Process Book IMD220

Tech Head Magazine is a website with a very clean and professional design with hard lines and bold fonts. It is built specifically to target its audience: professionals working in the information technology field, and it has a focus on being as usable and navigable as possible. This is the first site I built on a grid, specifically one with three columns.

Motion GamingMotion Gaming Process Book IMD315

This site is the first in which I employed the Javascript library called JQuery, which makes animation and a variety of other cool effects completely painless. This site is a grunge style blog about the various game types that used the player's movements to control the game.

Creatures of the WorldCreatures of the World Process Book IMD340

The intention of this class was to teach us to build a custom video player in Flash. This site uses a daring color palette and a unique font to bring some intrigue to what is honestly some of the most boring footage ever recorded.

Neck and Back Pain Chiropractic Neck and Back Pain Chiropractic, LLC Process Book IMD200

The focus of this process book is on laying down the architecture of the hypothetical final site. This process included choosing colors, selecting and targeting a specific audience, deciding what tone the site should have, and performing several other steps to ensure that the finished site would be a success.

Ataraxia Ataraxia IMD240

Ataraxia's site is basically a vessel for it's music player, which was built in Adobe Flash CS4 using ActionScript 3. In addition to this project, we also designed an audio spectrum analyzer in this class, which transformed whatever music was playing into an entertaining visualization.
